Seymour Abramowitz ObituaryVisit the Oliverie Funeral Home - Manchester website to view the full obituary.Seymour Abramowitz, age 100, died Friday, February 27, 2026, at Rose Garden Nursing & Rehabilitation, Toms River.Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided there until 1972 before moving to East Meadow, Long Island. In 1985, he moved to Washington Twp., Bergen County, NJ, until retiring to Manchester Twp. 35 years ago.He very proudly served in the Army during WWII from 1943-1946, in the European Theater, with the 133rd Anti Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. As a boy he developed a fascination with aviation and spent many afternoons at LaGuardia Field (now Airport), photographing every plane he could, both civilian and military. His acute ability to spot and identify aircraft, friend and foe, led him to spend his days with the Battalion behind binoculars, plotting and predicting future altitudes of enemy aircraft. When he moved to Rose Garden in 2025, he went through all the photos he shot at LaGuardia, and at the age of 100 he was still able to identify every single one.He met and fell in love at first sight with Nancy Miller on a Brooklyn subway car and they married in 1950.He retired from the embroidery business in 1990 as Production Manager for All American Emblem, North Bergen.His hobbies included building model airplanes, some of which are hanging at the Civil Air Patrol (volunteer auxiliary) at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. His extensive collection of aviation literature is also held at the Joint Base.In addition to being an audiophile, other hobbies included landscaping the homes he resided in, and being the videographer for all family functions.Seymour and Nancy traveled to many countries, their favorites included Israel, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Alaska.He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, in 2014, and his sister, Bella.Surviving are his 2 daughters, Terry Glikin & her husband, Richard of Jackson and Amy Westpy & her husband, Guy of Marlboro; his sister, Lena Chanin of Boca Raton, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Kanian and her husband, Chris, Gregory Castoria, Zachary Westpy and his wife, Noelle and Max Westpy and his wife, Isabel. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Gabriella and Nicholas Kanian and Noah and Camille Westpy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation is Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 AM with a 9:30 AM service at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Interment will follow at 11:30 AM at Brigadier General Wm. C.
