Selina (Barbosa) Arruda, age 92, of New Bedford, MA, departed this life on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of the late Ermano Arruda.Born on December 15, 1933, in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, Sao Miguel Acores, Selina was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Barbosa da Ponte and Teresinha de Jesus (Cepriano) Barbosa. With a strong work ethic and a commitment to her craft, Selina dedicated 36 years of her life as a stitcher for Leading Sportswear, leaving an indelible mark on those who worked alongside her.Selina is survived by her six children: Maria Umbelina and her husband Tony Umbelina of Acushnet, Hermano Arruda and his wife Maggie Arruda of Acushnet, Teresa de Jesus and her husband Bruce Camara of Dartmouth, Maria Da Silva and her husband Tony Da Silva of New Bedford, Martin Arruda and his wife Pamela Arruda of Dartmouth, and Michael Arruda and his wife Carol Arruda of Fairhaven. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.Her siblings, Guilhermina Barbosa of St. Michael, Maria Dos Anjos and her husband Floriano Martins, Manuel Barbosa and his wife Rosa Barbosa of New Bedford, and Hermano Jorge Barbosa and his wife Eduarda Barbosa of St. Michael, also survive her. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ressureçoa Barbosa of Montreal and Cremilde Barbosa, as well as ten nieces and nephews.Selina will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the love she so generously shared with all who knew her.Selina's visiting hours and funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma. Visiting hours will take place from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 AM. The burial will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, located at 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA.
