Sean Matthew McCracken

Sean Matthew McCracken, of Amston, fondly known as “Mac,” passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on July 9, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Robert and Ruth (Stern) McCracken, Sean graduated from Redford Union High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served stateside and overseas in Germany, retiring as a proud veteran. He then began a long career with the United States Postal Service.

In 1981, Sean met the love of his life, Sarah, and they married that same year. Together they raised three children—a son, a daughter, and later an adopted son. Mac loved riding his Harley, detailing cars, following Detroit sports teams, and cooking. Having cooked for an army during his military days, he delighted in sharing his meals with family and friends. Above all, he cherished time spent with his wife, Sarah, and spoiling his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Sarah, of Amston; his sons, Sean McCracken II and his wife, Nicole, of Willimantic, and Horace Hatten-McCracken of Plattsburgh, New York; his daughter, Candice Deguzis and her husband, Jason, of Amston; his grandchildren, Caroline and Ryan Deguzis; his brother, Michael McCracken of Farmington Hills, Michigan; and many extended family members and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
