Sean Bonney ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.Sean Kendell Bonney, 61, of Rolla, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 28, 2026, as a believer in Jesus Christ. He was at his second home with his family in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he graduated with the class of 1982 from Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. He attended Mid-America Nazarene College (now University) and graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a B.S. in Mining Engineering. He called Rolla his home when not in Colorado. During his college years, he joined the Marine Corp Reserves and proudly served for six years, which included deployment during Desert Storm. After 9/11, Sean joined the National Guard completing two more deployments in the Middle East and 20 years of service. He also retired after 20 years of civil service as a safety engineer. He was so proud and honored to have had the privilege of serving his country.Sean is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Hayden Bonney and Margaret Donna Lee Wisner-Bonney.Everything Sean did was for his family. He was caring, generous, and loving, and always willing to give a hug. He was married to his wife, Paula Rueff-Bonney, for 37 years, and she survives him along with their two amazing and beautiful children, Alexa Herrmann and Kristian Bonney and his grandson, Glen. Alexa is married to Garrett Herrmann. Sean was so proud to talk about his first grandchild who brought such joy to Sean. His eyes sparkled when they walked into the room. Kristian, Sean and Paula's son, also survives him, and considered Sean his best friend. Sean absolutely adored his son, Kristian, and would do anything for him. Sean loved to chat about his family and his many collections with his iconic proud smile. His style and generosity were his best traits and he is deeply missed.Sean is survived by his sister and her family, Michaél Bonney-Dunnivant, married to Daniel E. Dunnivant, for 41 years and their children, Sophe-Hayden and Dane Dunnivant. The Daniel Dunnivant family resides in Panama City Beach, Florida. Sean's aunt, Jean Mobley, and her children, Bart and BJ (Brett Lovins), survive him and reside in Kentucky.Sean is survived by Paula's faithful family, her mother, Lynda, and her father, Paul Rueff from Rolla, Missouri. They stood by Sean through thick and thin. Sean is also survived by his brother-in-law, Doug Rueff, his wife, Janelle Rueff, and their two sons, Fitz and Watson. Their family resides in Prairie Village, Kansas.A Mass of Christian Burial for Sean K. Bonney will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 17 St. Patrick Lane, Rolla, MO 65401. A visitation will be held prior to the mass beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood, 25350 State Hwy H, Waynesville, MO 65583.A reception immediately following the interment will be held at Wellington Place, 1200 Wellington Dr., Rolla, MO 65401, from 3-5pm.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
