Scott William Stine

Scott William Stine

January 17, 1970 February 27, 2026

Tualatin, OR

Scott William Stine was born on January 17, 1970, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on the Fort Carson Army Base. His family moved from Colorado to Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas before settling in the Tualatin, Oregon, area in 1980. A graduate of Tigard High School, he earned a BA in English from Bethany Bible College. Scott was a writer, creator, and playwright at heart, though he worked in the mortgage industry and later as a project manager in the software industry to support his family.

He volunteered at church, participated in Toastmasters, and was actively involved in Bible studies and life groups for many years. Scott authored two books, including the published novel The Omega: Book 1 of the Coyote Saga, with a second manuscript still awaiting final editing. He encouraged his children’s creativity, helping them with stories and homework and even writing a play for one of them. When his health allowed, he enjoyed working out and running. Above all, he cherished the outdoor adventures and journeys his wife, Kelley, planned for their family, especially their visits to National Parks.

Scott was deeply loved by two church families. In 2020 he became an Orthodox Christian and formed close bonds with the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church community while remaining connected to Horizon Community Church, where his family had attended since 1980. An introvert by nature, he possessed a remarkable ability to form genuine and lasting connections with others. He was known for his sharp intelligence, quiet humor, and the thoughtful way he spoke, making every conversation memorable.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kelley Stine; his daughters, Quinaby (20) and Kessaree (16) Stine; his parents, Bill and Eileen Stine; his sister, Kathy Chaney, and her husband, Chris Chaney; his nephews, Andrew and Caleb Chaney; and his niece, Elise Chaney. He is also survived by extended family, lifelong friends from middle and high school, and many cherished friends and coworkers who will remember him with great fondness.
