Naugatuck, CT
Scott Thomas Stella, 57, of Naugatuck, Connecticut, passed away on March 11, 2026, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 1, 1968, in Norwalk, he was the son of Thomas Stella and the late Harriet (Nowack) Stella. He grew up in Danbury, graduated from Danbury High School, and spent the last 36 years as the devoted husband of Kris (Stenmark) Stella.
Scott worked for 20 years in the logging industry, primarily with Bob’s Landclearing, before becoming a commercial truck driver in the construction industry. Most recently, he was employed at NPL in Berlin. An avid outdoorsman and animal lover, he was known for rescuing injured birds, squirrels, and other wildlife, and he strongly supported domestic animal rescue. His home was rarely without a cat or dog underfoot.
Above all, Scott cherished time with family and friends. He shared countless fishing trips, quad rides, camping adventures, and summers at Bonnet Shores beach in Rhode Island. For more than 25 years he looked forward to an annual winter camping trip with over thirty friends, where music, stories, food, and laughter created memories that would last a lifetime. A devoted husband and father, he supported his daughters in every endeavor, rarely missing a sporting event, father-daughter dance, or Girl Scout badge ceremony. He taught his girls practical skills, cheered loudly from center field at Naugatuck High softball games, and made their home the place where everyone wanted to gather. He hosted parties, poker games, and an annual backyard haunted house that drew the entire neighborhood. When his sons-in-law joined the family, he embraced them fully, teaching and sharing projects with the same generous spirit he showed everyone.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Kris, his father Thomas Stella, his daughters Skye Andrew and her husband Kyle of Beacon Falls, and Ciara Stella-Hanson and her husband James of Naugatuck, his granddaughters Maisie and Isla Andrew, his sister Dawn Bell and her husband Allen of Marietta, Ohio, his brother Michael Stella of Marietta, Ohio, and a wide circle of friends and extended family who were blessed to know him. He will be remembered as a kind, selfless man with a warm heart, easygoing nature, and wonderful sense of humor who brought people together and made every gathering brighter. His beautiful spirit and generous heart will live on in everyone whose life he touched.
