Scott Ryan Patterson

February 27, 1981 March 8, 2026

Highgate, VT

Scott Ryan “Pooch” Patterson of Highgate passed away on March 8, 2025, after a six-and-a-half-year battle with cancerous brain tumors. He was surrounded by family and friends at his bedside, including his girlfriend and caregiver Savannah Leclair, his brother Ryan Patterson, and dear friends Kendra Garrison, Tyler Chagnon, Adam and Sarah Kane, and Travis Doe.

Born on February 27, 1981, at Kerbs Medical Center in St. Albans to Stuart and Cynthia (Couture) Patterson, Scott grew up exploring the outdoors with his brother and best friend Nick Boylan. He spent his childhood playing sports, riding bikes, fishing, sledding, snowboarding, and creating games with his siblings. His deepest lifelong passion was farming; visits to the Couture family farm were the highlight of his days, and he would often pull over just to watch others working in the fields. Many happy memories were made at his grandparents’ camp on Carmi.

After graduating from Richford High School, Scott studied Agriculture Business at Vermont Technical College. He worked at Franklin Foods, spent more than twelve years at Ben & Jerry’s, returned to Franklin Foods as a supervisor, and finished his career at Teknor Apex. He also worked summers at Blue Seal during college. Scott was known as a dedicated worker who made friends easily. He enjoyed keeping a tidy lawn, playing guitar, listening to music, spending time in his garage, deer and turkey hunting, golfing, and cheering for the Montreal Canadiens.

He is survived by his parents, Stuart Patterson and wife Audrey, and Cynthia Dunakin and husband Alton; his children, Talyiah and Adilynn Patterson, and their mother Kendra Garrison; his sister Stacy Allen and husband Alex, and their daughters Isabella, Julia, and Veronica; his brother Ryan Patterson; step-siblings Dean Perry, Shawna Dunakin, and Ashley Aderhold; aunts and uncles Steve and Cheryl Patterson, Laurie (Patterson) Baker, Debbie (Couture) Tipper, and Michael Couture; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Wallace and Veronica Patterson and Martin and Audrey Couture, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
