Bowling Green, OH
Scott R. Guthrie, 71, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on July 15, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Mearl R. Guthrie Jr. and Lolita A. (Thayer) Guthrie, he moved with his family to Bowling Green at just six months old. There he grew up and remained a lifelong resident.
Scott earned an associate degree in electronics from Owens Tech and worked as an electronic technician at Bowling Green State University for more than thirty years. He was an avid toy collector who took great pleasure in the nostalgia and craftsmanship of his collection. A devoted fan of science fiction and fantasy, he especially enjoyed Doctor Who and Star Trek. He found deep contentment outdoors, where he loved rock hounding, fossil collecting, and simply being in nature. Summers often meant family explorations of new places. An Eagle Scout, he carried the values of scouting throughout his life, approaching each day with curiosity and a spirit of adventure.
Some of his most cherished memories were the family trips of his youth and the many journeys he shared with his longtime friend, Amy Potter, as they discovered new places together and savored the simple joy of the journey.
He is survived by his sister Carla Guthrie Hall (Bill) of Wooster, Ohio, his niece Julie (Jim) Pooler of Wooster, his great-niece and great-nephew Eleanor and Lewis Pooler of Wooster, and his longtime friend Amy Potter of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl and Lolita Guthrie.
