Scott Elwood McCoy, 65, passed away on March 12, 2026, at OSU James Cancer Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 21, 1960, to Henry and Sylvia McCoy, he grew up surrounded by the love of his family and carried that spirit of devotion throughout his life.
Scott was a devoted husband to his wife of 44 years, Ann McCoy, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. Together they raised three children: Adrian (Brandon) Smith, Eric (Jacquelynn) McCoy, and Jennifer (Robert) Fravel. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Shyanne and Logan Smith, Justin and Emma McCoy, and Lane Fravel. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim and Rick, and his sisters, Vicki and Lou.
For 40 years, Scott worked in the construction industry, earning respect for his strong work ethic and integrity. He found deep joy in the outdoors as an avid fisherman and hunter, rarely missing opening day for turkey and deer season. His constant companion on these adventures was his beloved dog, Wiggleworm, whom he often called his fourth child. Scott’s warm smile, ready laughter, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be laid to rest in his favorite spot in the woods, a place that brought him peace and happiness. His family will forever cherish the love, kindness, and memories he gave them.
