November 19, 1958— March 9, 2026
Brownwood, TX
Saturnino L. “JunBug” Dominguez Jr., age 67, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by family at his home in Brownwood, Texas.
Born on November 19, 1958, in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Josephine L. Perez and Saturnino M. Dominguez, JunBug graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1978. While in school he joined the boxing program under Coach James Ward, a passion that remained with him throughout his life. He mentored and trained young athletes in boxing and the discipline it taught, traveling as far as Marquette, Michigan, and Mexico City, Mexico, to prepare them for the Junior Olympics. Many of the boxers he coached remain well known today.
JunBug worked for the City of Fort Stockton for 25 years and later for Ward County for 10 years. In his spare time he cared for yards throughout the area. He eventually retired from Monahans, Texas, and made his home in Brownwood. Known for his quick humor and his ability to turn strangers into friends, he was the person everyone could count on. Conversations with him often ended with a funny story that grew longer each time it was told and his favorite closing phrase, “That’s life.” He loved the outdoors, whether working, walking the trails, sitting by the water with his cafecito, listening to music, or enjoying a good audiobook.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Jo Dominguez; his brother, Sammy L. Dominguez; and his mother-in-law, Estella Pesina.
JunBug is survived by his wife, Marie Dominguez of Brownwood; his daughters, Naomi (Mando) Franco of Fort Stockton, Stephanie (Justin) Aaron of Fort Stockton, Emilee Dominguez of Abilene, and Lily Dominguez; his sons, Sam Dominguez of Fort Stockton and Josef (Tristin) Hamilton of Odessa; along with numerous grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Auralia Dominguez of San Angelo; Gabriel (Janie) Dominguez of Seguin; Jesse (Claudia) Lopez of Lubbock; Valerie Dominguez of Fort Stockton; George (Nellie) Dominguez of Fort Stockton; sister-in-law, Debra (Eric) Pryor of Gatesville; and brother-in-law, Ron (Sarrah) Moreles of San Angelo.
