Sarah Jane Harris Cofield, 77, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away on January 22, 2026, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. Born on December 18, 1948, in Langdale, Alabama, she was the second child of the late Gloster James and Erma Ruth Harris.

A 1966 graduate of Rehobeth High School, Sarah Jane joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at an early age. She was known for her vibrant spirit, her fierce love and protection of her family, and her ability to light up any room she entered. She loved to have a good time and was often the life of any gathering. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and caretaker, she nurtured with patience, corrected with wisdom, and loved with her whole heart. Her home was a place of warmth and care, and her presence brought joy and life to those around her.

Sarah Jane shared a deep and enduring bond with her siblings, who were her first playmates and lifelong companions. She is survived by her children, Elder Robert (Gwendolyn) Brock Jr. of Hogansville, Georgia, Zaneta (Arthur Lovelace) Brock of Lanett, Alabama, and Dean (Stephanie) Brock of Cusseta, Alabama; her grandchildren, Brenton M. Brock, Shakendra S. Brock, Shalicia Z. Brock, Afton T. (Jordon) Jones, Kennedy Silmon, Jordan H. Brock, E’Miya Moore, and O’Khari Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Tremaine Newton Jr. and Jordon Jones Jr. She also leaves behind her adopted son, Elder Lorenzo (Geri) Gonzalez, and her surviving siblings, Gwendolyn Harris-Brooks, Phyllis Morgan, Anthony B. Harris, Delores (Louis) Clemonts, and Ruthie (James) Jones. She lovingly cherished Ruth (Tyrel) Hekendorf and Nicolas Gunter as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Gloster J. Harris Jr., Michael L. Harris, Hilda Harris Patten, Sylvia Gibson, and Verna June Adams. Sarah Jane’s legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and family unity will continue to live on through all the lives she touched.
