She was born on March 9, 1936, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where she grew up and graduated with the Class of 1955.She worked as a bank teller for the National Bank of Daingerfield before later working as a bookkeeper for Irvin Enterprise.Sarah enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls, reading, playing games with her lady friends, and traveling in the camper. She was a faithful member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church and was part of Yesterday's Youth.She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Truitt; her parents, William David Culver and Icy Mae Cress Culver; and her siblings, R.D. Culver, Wanda Hinton, and John Henry Culver.She is survived by her son, Tony Truitt and wife Mariah of Austin, Texas; and daughter, Denise Smith and husband Chris of Jenkins. Grandchildren include Meghann Simmons and husband Ryan of Katy, Texas; Keaton Smith and wife Olivia of Jenkins; Gracey Joe Smith of Jenkins; William "Bill" Truitt of Austin, Texas; and James Truitt of Austin, Texas.She is also survived by great-grandchildren Ayden Simmons, Emrys Simmons, Sawyer Simmons, Amara Smith, and Waylon Smith, along with numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 12, at South Union Missionary Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Officiating will be Bro. Chad Thompson and Bro. Neil Clark, with music by Bro. Randy Sutton.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
