Sara Lynn Brian

Sara Lynn Brian

October 9, 1944 March 12, 2026

Westlake, OH

Sara Lynn Brian, known affectionately as Lynn, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on March 12, 2026, at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born on October 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to George Earl and Mary C. Humbert, Lynn moved to Toledo, Ohio, in her early childhood and graduated from Toledo Central Catholic High School. She was the beloved wife of Timothy Brian for 54 years and the loving mother of Jeff (Victor Diaz) and Michael (Erin). She was the cherished Nana of Liam, Molly, and Luke Brian, the devoted sister of Sr. Roselyn Humbert, Judi Dunwald (Craig), and Libby McClelland, and a loving aunt, great-aunt, and godmother to Emily Fagan. She shared close friendships with Elaine Fagan and Kay Sabalis.

Lynn dedicated her professional life to nursing as an operating room nurse in hospitals in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Anchorage, Alaska, before spending the majority of her career at Southwest General Hospital and The Surgery Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. At age 44, she answered a call to serve her country, joining the United States Army Reserve Nurse Corps. In late 1990, she deployed to Saudi Arabia as a Second Lieutenant during Operation Desert Shield and Storm, later completing her service as a Captain.

After retiring from nursing, Lynn continued her life of service and faith as an Associate of the Sylvania Franciscans and as an 18-year volunteer with St. John Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Office, where she supported patients and families as a Eucharistic Minister. She found great joy in time spent at the beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Key Largo, Florida, as well as in shopping, playing Mahjong, enjoying chocolate, and collecting anything related to pink flamingos. Above all, she treasured moments with her family and was her grandchildren’s biggest supporter at every event and activity. Lynn was happiest when caring for others, and she will be remembered for her unwavering love, deep faith, and generous spirit, along with her legendary bottomless bag of snacks and treats for loved ones.

The family extends special thanks to Lynn’s sister-in-law Judy Roy for the tenderness and care she provided during Lynn’s final weeks, as well as to the compassionate caregivers at Ames Family Hospice House.
