Sara Kathlyn (Powell) Patterson, age 89, of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Miami.

Born on July 6, 1936, in Alma, Arkansas, to Doyle and Mabel (Manes) Powell, Sara grew up surrounded by family and formed many lifelong friendships she treasured throughout her years. On November 12, 1954, she married Charles Laurence “Larry” Patterson in Galena, Kansas. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and a deep and abiding faith in God that guided her every step.

Sara is survived by her sons, Richard Patterson and wife Barbara of Miami, Oklahoma, and David Patterson and wife Laura of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew and wife Madelyine Patterson, Erin Patterson and Cody McGlone, Benjamin and wife Savannah Patterson, and Margaret Patterson. She is also survived by her sisters, Carla Mitchell and husband Gary, and Anne Kinyon, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wayne Powell, brother-in-law Sid Kinyon, and sister-in-law Ruth Powell.

Sara’s strong faith was the foundation of her life, expressed through kindness, compassion, and the love she showed to her family and friends. She found great joy in the many friendships she maintained over the years, especially those with her classmates from the Galena High School Class of 1954. In her later years, she was deeply grateful for the companionship of her dear friend Elaine.

Sara will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the grace and faith that guided her life. Her legacy of love, friendship, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
