Sandy Venturino

February 2, 1944 March 13, 2026

Pittsburgh, PA

Sandra “Sandy” Venturino, born February 2, 1944 in Penn Hills, passed away on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Matesic and Ruth E. (McLean) Matesic.

Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Douglas Venturino, her grandson Vincent Venturino, her brother Joe Matesic, and her sister Chyrl (Matesic) Levitt. She is survived by her three children, Alan (Carolle) Venturino, Lee (Gayle) Venturino, and Cindy (Joseph) Biedrycki, and her grandchildren Logan, Olivia, and Lucas.

A graduate of Divine Providence Academy, Sandy went on to earn her nursing degree and worked as a licensed practical nurse. She married her husband Doug on February 29, 1964, and left her nursing career to raise their three children and devote herself to their family life. When her children were grown, she became a fitness instructor, personal trainer, and assistant manager for the YWCA in Pittsburgh.

Sandy found joy in cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, listening to the radio, watching her favorite game shows—especially Family Feud—and attending luncheons with her Divine Providence Academy classmates. She loved playing cards, tending to her hummingbirds and backyard wildlife, and most of all, sharing simple daily pleasures with Doug, whether walking at the mall, bowling, gathering with friends and family for lunch, or embarking on road trips across the United States and abroad. She spent the final two years of her life in Lexington, South Carolina, living with her daughter and son-in-law.
