Sandra Burrin ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenwood Chapel on Mar. 9, 2026.Sandra "Sandy" Steers Burrin age 80 of Bargersville, IN passed away on March 2, 2026.Born September 25, 1945, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of former Indiana Attorney General Edwin Kemp Steers and Dorothy "Hammie" Hamilton Steers. Sandy graduated from Indiana University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and was a proud member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Roger Joseph Burrin. From childhood through her early college years Sandy spent her summers at Lake Tippecanoe in Leesburg, Indiana. Being a water bug, she ultimately became a champion water skier. For her skills and appreciation of the water her grandfather bought her a ski boat at the age of nine.It was also at Lake Tippecanoe that she met her future husband Roger, who fell in love with her immediately. Sandy and Roger celebrated 58 years of marriage in 2025.Family was the center of Sandy's world. She cherished her children and grandchildren, finding joy in every visit, every milestone, and every ordinary moment spent together. She believed wholeheartedly that family was sacred, and she lived that belief every day.One of Sandy's favorite jobs was working part-time at the Indiana University Athletic Ticket Office. There she formed lasting friendships, connected with students and coaches, and embraced even the quirkiest tasks-including ironing paper bills so they would be crisp and presentable for the bank, a duty assigned by the Ticket Manager that she carried out with her trademark good humor.Sandy delighted in watching her children and grandchildren participate in their many activities, attending every event she could and cheering them on with pride. She was a loyal Indiana Hoosiers fan, an avid lover of jigsaw and word puzzles, and someone who found joy in decorating for the holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Susan "Suzy" Smith.Sandy will be deeply missed by her husband, Roger, her children, son Kevin (Deb) Burrin, daughter Heather (James) Freeman; grandchildren Sydney Burrin, Landon Burrin, Blakeley Freeman and Avery Freeman; great grandchild, Olin Riggsby and all of her extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shriners Hospital for Children.A celebration of Sandy's life will be held in the spring.Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood ChapelTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
