Sandra Shrieves ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Mar. 13, 2026.Sandra Lee Shrieves, 85, of Virginia Beach, while surrounded by family, went to her eternal home to rejoin the "love of her life" and family and friends who had gone before.Born in Salisbury, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Troy Taylor Vickers, Jr. and Anne Phoebus Vickers.She is survived by her loving family: two children: daughter, Laura Anne Jones and son-in-law, John; son, Robert Causey Shrieves, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Cristina; and her fun-loving grandchildren, Robert "Trey" Causey Shrieves, III, Samuel Brady Shrieves, Michael Jeffrey Shrieves, and Annabella Lee Shrieves. Cristina was like a 2nd daughter to her, relentlessly providing care and love to her the last 12 years of her life.She also leaves behind her brother, Gary Phoebus Vickers, and his wife Phyllis of Salisbury, Maryland. Sandy will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and God-children.Sandy graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1959. She married Robert in 1960, followed him in his military career, and enjoyed 54 years of marital bliss. She worked for Ocean Spray, Great Lakes, Naval Academy Preparatory School, State Farm and retired as a City of Virginia Beach Public Schools employee. She was a dedicated member of the VBAEOP and enjoyed monthly gatherings and service to the community. Sandy also thoroughly enjoyed meeting and becoming friends with people all over the country that she met while working and traveling with her husband throughout his Navy career.Upon retirement, she maximized on crosswords, reading, writing cards, and loving on her grandkids. You were truly blessed if you received a card from her with a beautiful note inside.Sandra was a member of Haygood UMC for 54 years and enjoyed being the acolyte mom, teaching VBS, and being a member of various circles of the United Methodist Women. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, sustaining her through many joys and challenges.A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM with reception to follow. The service will be held at Haygood United Methodist Church, 4713 Haygood Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, Maryland on Monday, March 23rd at 11:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be sent to either Haygood United Methodist Church or Shriners Children's Philadelphia c/o Scoliosis Unit, 3551 N.
