Sandra L. (Blank) Heere died on March 14, 2026 at Ephrata Hospital. She was the loving wife of Gerard A. “Jerry” Heere. They married on May 28, 1960.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Fern Virginia (Rothermel) Blank. She was a 1959 graduate of Reading High School. Sandra was employed by Western Electric as a quality control operator then later at Atonement Lutheran Church as a preschool assistant for 17 years, retiring in 1994.
Sandy volunteered as a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Leader. She also served as a Physical Therapy Assistant Volunteer at the former Reading Rehabilitation Center. Sandy loved to sew. Starting with clothes for the immediate family, she later made her daughter’s wedding dress. Then she began making quilts for all the new babies in her extended family, crafting almost 50 of them.
Sandra was an active member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, serving on the RCIA committee for 19 years, as well as a church greeter and on the hospital ministry team.
In addition to her husband, Jerry, Sandra is lovingly remembered by her two children, Kevin Gerard Heere of Fleetwood and Lisa Marie, wife of Michael Tellup of Havre de Grace, MD, a sister, Janiesse (Blank) Curry, four grandchildren: Christine, wife of Blake Olenick, Amber Long, Erin Tellup, and Michael Tellup, four great-grandchildren: Daniel, Hannah, and Sierra Olenick and Aiden Long, goddaughter Cindy Giorgi and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Gloria, wife of David Flamm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 19, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius. Burial will be private.
