Sandra Kay Brininstool

July 8, 1951 March 11, 2026

Battle Creek, MI

Sandra “Sandi” Kay Brininstool, 74, of Battle Creek, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Calhoun County Medical Facility. Born on July 8, 1951, to Winnie and Art Brininstool, Sandi grew up in Battle Creek and remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Sandi went on to earn an Associate degree in Theater from Kellogg Community College. She spent several summers working behind the scenes in regional Summer Stock productions before moving to New York to pursue a career in theater. Upon returning to Michigan, she worked at the Gibson Guitar String Company, where she handcrafted and packaged strings used by notable musicians, including Bob Dylan. She later joined the Department of Defense at the Battle Creek Federal Center, beginning as a clerk and advancing to Program Manager and General Supply Specialist. Over more than two decades, she traveled extensively across the country before retiring in 2006.

Sandi was known for her warm smile and generous spirit. As the eldest sibling, she quietly looked after those around her in her own caring way. She found joy in shopping, camping, traveling, visiting zoos, making cards and crafts, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends. She was an avid sports fan who especially loved watching hockey, soccer, and football.

She is survived by her brother, William “Bill” Arthur Brininstool; her sisters, Mary Lou Brininstool, Rhonda Melvin of Westminster, Maryland, and Ann Sajtar; and her special friend, Sandy Sadowski. Sandi was preceded in death by her father, Arthur William Brininstool; her mother, Winifred Louise (Budd) Brininstool; and her sister, Linda Ann Brininstool. In keeping with her wishes, there was no funeral or memorial service.
