She was married to the late Kent Bijou. Sandra was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen Sr. High School, class of 1980. She later attended John Jay Beauty College and became a licensed cosmetologist. She was a faithful member and usher of Temple Zion Church for 35 years. She leaves to cherish her memories 2 sisters: Priscilla Ewell-Hill (Samuel) and Cindy Ewell Brazile, 1 niece, Morghan Faye Hill, 2 nephews, Kermit Brazile, Jr., and Tory Brazile, 2 brothers-in-law, Allen Bijou and Samuel Hill, 2 aunts, Lois Ewell Phipps and Elouise Ewell Fernandez, along with a host of relatives and friends.Preceded in death by her parents, Gloria Pitts Ewell and William Henry Ewell III, 2 aunts, Debbie Ewell and Henrietta Ewell Brooks, 1 uncle, Percy Ewell, 1 brother-in-law, Kermit Brazile, Sr.The Family would like to thank Ochsner Hospital, Passages Hospice, and DW Rhodes Funeral Home.Special thanks to Temple Zion Church and its members for all their love, care, and support!A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm at Temple Zion Church, 261 Elmira Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
