Sandra Cata, our sweetheart, passed unto our Lords hands on March 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Sandra was raised in the beautiful, green Velarde Valley along side her sister Alice, brothers Lawrence, Ralph and Sam by loving parents Clara and Lorenzo Garcia.

Sandra graduated from McCurdy High School, worked 35 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, retiring in 2008.

Sandra, and husband Ernie were blessed with daughters Betsy and Beverly, then further blessed with grandchildren Claire and Luke McCullough.

Sandra made friends easily and had many, and everyone of them dear. She enjoyed needlepoint, vegetable and flower gardening, reading, baking, canning, long walks on quiet roads, camping, road trips and volunteer work. She loved her friends and adored her family. She especially loved her weekly visits to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Adoration Chapel where she found peace and prayer in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A Public Visitation will be take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 5:00 pm, with Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.

Mass will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, NM. PER FAMILLY REQUEST - PLEASE BE SEATED BY 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Espanola, NM.

The family of Sandra Cata has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the beautiful Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
