A devoted family man, he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories with his wife, Dorothy Williams Johnson, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his father, Samuel Lee Johnson Sr., and his brothers, Marion and Willie Johnson.

Samuel is survived by his son, Samuel Lee Johnson III, in whom he instilled deep values of wisdom and integrity. He leaves behind his loving sister, Maggie Lee Powell, his brother, Robert Johnson, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews who will carry forward the bonds they shared with him.
