Samuel D. Bernal Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 16, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, to Samuel Bernal Sr. and Seferina Martinez Bernal, Samuel lived a life full of purpose, hard work, and deep love for his family and friends.A proud United States Air Force veteran, Samuel served his country with honor and dedication. After his service, he carried that same discipline and commitment into everything he did. He was a skilled carpenter whose craftsmanship reflected his patience and attention to detail, and a passionate fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. He also loved playing his bass guitar, filling any room with music and warmth. Above all, Samuel cherished time spent with his family and friends — those were the moments that meant everything to him.Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Seferina Bernal; and his siblings, Daniel Bernal, James Bernal, and Verna Bernal.He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elena Aleman Bernal, whose love and devotion were his greatest blessing; his children, Leon Bernal and Jessica Reyes (Jose G. Maldonado); his cherished grandsons, Jakob Reyes, Jose E. Maldonado, and Alejandro Maldonado; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who were blessed to have known him.Samuel D. Bernal Jr. was a man who built things with his hands, fed his soul by the water, and touched every heart around him. He will be deeply and forever missed."Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts."
