Sammy Powers of Wichita, KS., 74, died December 1, 2025 following a lengthy illness. Born November 26, 1951. He was the son of the late Joe and Margaret Powers of Wichita, KS.

Sammy graduated from Wichita Heights High School in Wichita, KS. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam War. Sammy was employed as a Truck driver for many years.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to races, bowling, wood working, jewelry making, spending time with family and friends, socializing, and an animal lover – specifically dogs.

Sammy was very loving, compassionate, loyal, kind, generous, affectionate, and liked to joke around and always had a smile on his face.

Sammy was hard working, and was very dedicated to family, and friends. He was never married or had children and regarded his nephew and nieces as his own children. Sammy deserved more out of life than he ever received. He will be cherished loved and missed.

Sammy was proceeded in death by his parents Joe & Margaret Powers, and brother Sonny Powers.

His brothers Lloyd (Sandra) Craig, CO, Mike (Terry) Wichita, KS, and Roger Wichita, KS., Nephew Brian (Mimi) Payson, AZ, Nieces Shevaun (Tim) Craig, CO, Stephanie Grand Junction, CO, Brandy (Greg) Craig, CO, Tara Wichita, KS, Amy Wichita, KS, Anna Wichita, KS, Adrian Wichita, KS, and several great Nieces and Nephews in CO & KS.

Services will be held at 1pm on March 20, 2026 at the Veterans Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO with an honors ceremony April 6, 2026 at 1pm, and his ashes will be spread in Wichita, KS on May 7, 2026
