Sammie (Husted) Herndon

Sammie (Husted) Herndon passed away on March 5, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, after an extended illness. A native of Altamonte Springs, Florida, she spent most of her adult life in Toombs County, Georgia.

Sammie lived her life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone around her. She loved to sing, crochet, and spend time playing video games with her daughter. She also enjoyed watching SyFy movies and shows, traveling whenever she could, and always insisted on being the one to control the radio. With a creative spirit and a deep love for animals, she embraced life with the free-spirited personality of her Aquarius zodiac sign.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lee Husted; her maternal grandparents, S.M. and Edna Willis; and her paternal grandparents, Leo and Thelma Husted.

Sammie is survived by her daughter, Melodie Paige and fiancé Eathen of Uvalda; her mother, Sammie Earl Stewart of Toombs County; two brothers, Jeremy Husted and life partner Shannon of Lyons, and Kyle Stewart of Lyons; three sisters, Chasity Davis and husband Joe of Vidalia, Cassandra Stewart of Toombs County, and Shaunteia May of Toombs County; two grandchildren, Christopher Dale and Amelia Faye, with another grandchild, Andrew Lee, on the way. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish her memory.
