May 11, 1953— March 9, 2026
Corning, NY
Sally Jean Ketchum (Chamberlin), age 72, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Born on May 11, 1953 in Clifton Springs, New York, to the late Robert and Peggy Chamberlin, she grew up in Painted Post and graduated from Corning West High School in 1971. She later earned an Associate’s Degree from Corning Community College and built a long career as a loan officer for several banks, retiring in 2019 from Community Bank.
Sally was known for her kind, thoughtful, and generous spirit. Her warm laugh was unforgettable to those who knew her. She found joy in reading, cross-stitching, and countless arts and crafts projects. A devoted animal lover, she cherished her dogs, especially Buster and Spencer. Above all, she treasured her roles as a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Josiah) Smith of Painted Post, New York; her son, Timothy (Heather) Ketchum of Corning, New York; and her four beloved grandchildren—Reis Smith, Coraline Smith, Avery Ketchum, and Weston Ketchum—who were her world. She also leaves behind her sisters, Judy (John) Landrigan of Canandaigua, New York, Cindy McCluskey of Horseheads, New York, and Carol Chamberlin of Henrietta, New York; her former husband, David Ketchum; and lifelong friends Diane Marshall, Dottie Cox, Donna Roe, and many others.
Sally will be remembered for her bright smile, wonderful sense of humor, and the deep love she showed to everyone around her. She is now reunited with her parents. A small, private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
