Abbeville, SC
Sadie Page Johnson, 77, of Abbeville, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. Born in Abbeville to the late Benjamin L. and Evelyn Bratcher Page, Sadie dedicated her life to caring for others. A proud graduate of the Abbeville High School class of 1967, she went on to attend Anderson Hospital Nursing School and devoted more than 41 years to her nursing career at AnMed Hospital. She later continued her calling through 180 Home Health Care, where patients frequently requested her by name for her gentle nature and comforting bedside manner.
Sadie cherished her family deeply, especially treasuring the time spent with her sisters and the bonds that enriched her life. She was an avid reader who found peace and quiet adventure in the pages of countless books, and she was a longtime member of South Side Baptist Church in Abbeville. Her warm presence and caring spirit will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her son, Michael O’Shannon Hanks; sister, Fay Wildes; brother, Johnny Page; brother-in-law, Bobby Stamps; and Don Hanks, the father of her sons.
She is survived by her best friend, Melvin Sizemore; four sons, Brian Hanks (Cassey) of Abbeville, Chris Hanks, Josh Hanks (Caitlyn), and Jason Hanks; two sisters, Mary Page Stamps and Kathy Page Scott (Dennis); brother, Frank Page (Betty); sister-in-law, Rita Page; brother-in-law, Robert H. Wildes; twenty grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
