May 23, 1934— March 13, 2026
Chillicothe, IL
S. Paul Carroll, 91, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at Carle Methodist Hospital.
Born on May 23, 1934, in his family home in Chillicothe, Paul was one of seven children of William E. and Jessie (Windaugh) Carroll. He was raised and educated locally, graduating with the Class of 1952. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, attaining the rank of Specialist 4. On February 26, 1976, he married Janet Jensen. Together they shared 50 years of marriage and raised a family.
Paul lived a full and generous life defined by his kindness, exceptional craftsmanship, and genuine appreciation for those around him. He possessed a true talent for woodworking and took great pleasure in building furniture, much of which he created as gifts for family, friends, and members of the community. An avid Notre Dame football fan, he rarely missed a chance to cheer for the Fighting Irish. He also loved the outdoors, finding joy in gardening, photography, and simply being in nature. In quieter times, he enjoyed watching classic westerns and old movies.
Above all, Paul cherished his family. He took special delight in spending time with his grandchildren and supporting their activities whenever possible. His warm personality, lifelong friendships, and easy conversation endeared him to many, including former co-workers and generations of friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Chillicothe; two sons, Eric (Shannon) Carroll of Tinley Park and Ian Carroll of Newnan, Georgia; five grandchildren, Brayden, Jace, Trey, Cecilia, and Camden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
