October 28, 1973— March 5, 2026
Boulder City, NV
Ryan Dennis Barry, 52, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away at his home on March 5, 2026. Born on October 28, 1973, in Medford, Oregon, to Dennis C. Barry and Diane (West) Barry, Ryan grew up in Redding, California. He attended Cypress Grade School, Sequoia Junior High School, and graduated from Shasta High School, where he played Redding Youth Baseball and swam with the Redding Swim Team. As a teenager, he helped in his parents’ business, Independent Business Forms, Inc., taking on tasks from painting the building to counting tax forms during busy seasons. He cherished summers spent swimming and water skiing on Whiskeytown Lake and Shasta Lake.
Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he played water polo and served as team captain in his junior and senior years. During those summers, he worked as a lifeguard on California State Beaches. He later owned and operated Northern Stone Tools, LLC, in Portland, Oregon, supplying tools to companies that installed stone countertops. Seven years ago, he moved to Boulder City, Nevada, where he remained until his passing.
Ryan found deep fulfillment in caring for his family and community in Boulder City. He was especially devoted to helping his parents, particularly when his father developed Alzheimer’s disease. He faithfully escorted his dad to Rotary meetings and assisted with daily responsibilities. After his father’s death, Ryan continued to support his mother by delivering Meals on Wheels with her every Tuesday morning.
Those who knew Ryan will remember his remarkable gift for connecting with people. He had a warm, easy way of striking up conversations with almost anyone and a natural talent for keeping those around him laughing. He is survived by his mother, Diane Barry of Boulder City, Nevada; his sister and brother-in-law, Rick and Angie Schertle of San Jose, California; and their children, Kelly and Micah Schertle of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Barry.
