Ruth Newman Breaux
March 10, 1937— February 19, 2026
Mansfield, TX
Ruth Newman Breaux, 88, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at her home in Mansfield, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ruth was born on March 10, 1937, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Leander and Mable (Brailey) Newman. Ruth’s life was defined by an unwavering faith and a deep, lifelong commitment to those she loved. Ruth accepted Christ at an early age. She remained steadfast to her faith throughout her life. She could often be heard singing gospel hymns and quietly praying.
Growing up in Abbeville, Ruth developed the strong family roots that guided her every step. After completing her education, she dedicated herself to the care of others, as a selfless homemaker and caregiver for those in need. Whether she was tending to her children, her mother, or her many nieces and nephews, Ruth was a pillar of strength. Known affectionately as “Aunt Day,” she was a cherished presence in her community, offering kindness, guidance, and a warm heart to everyone she encountered.
Ruth married Lloyd Breaux in 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they shared a beautiful life together until Lloyd’s untimely passing. During their years together, they found joy in cooking, traveling, and hosting family and friends. Ruth had a vibrant spirit, with an infectious laugh that lit up any room. She especially loved listening to Blues music, dancing, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
Following the loss of her husband, Ruth moved to Mansfield, Texas, to be closer to her children. There, she played a vital role in helping raise her four grandchildren, supporting her daughter and son with tireless devotion. As a grandmother, Ruth received a couple of her most endearing titles, “Moma” and “Mimi,” which reflect the deep adoration her family held for her.
A woman of profound faith, Ruth believed in the transformative power of prayer and welcomed everyone with a kind, nonjudgmental spirit. Her life was a radiant example of love in action, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Ruth is survived by her loving children – daughter, Sharon Lewis (Lindsay) of Mansfield, Texas; her son, Dr. Glynn Newman (Sharon) of Dallas, Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Courtney Lewis Franklin, Kindal Lewis, Brailey Newman, and Glynn Thomas Newman. She also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Breaux; her parents, Leander and Mable Newman; her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Auguste, Mildred Webb, Frank Newman, Jewel Newman, and Alton Newman; and her treasured nephew, Jack Briggs, Jr.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” — John 14:27.
Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that Ruth now rests peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8
