Ruth N. Cottrell

Ruth N. Cottrell, 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on March 9, 1934, in Lee County, Virginia, to Henry and Bessie (Wilson) Kinser, Ruth enjoyed a long and successful career with AT&T, where she retired in a management position. She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Above all, Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family defined her life. She shared 62 years of marriage with her husband, Hubert C. Cottrell, who preceded her in death along with her parents.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Cottrell, Gayla (Michael) Johnson, and Bryan (Lisa) Cottrell; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Jessica, Amanda (Josh), Ashley, Trevor (Kaitlyn), and Devin (Deanna); her great-grandchildren, Miley, Chloe, Elijah, Landry, and Colton; her sisters, Jean, Marilyn, and Yvonne; and her brother, Bob. Her family will remember her gentle strength and the quiet joy she brought to every gathering.
