Ruth M. Giarratano

Ruth M. Giarratano (nee Crahan), 87, of Tappan, New York, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 10, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Giarratano. Ruth was a devoted mother to her daughters Diane Walker and her husband Jeff, Linda Moffitt and her husband Dan, and Donna McManus and her husband Brian. She was the proud grandmother of CJ, Bobby, Brian, Emily, Tommy, Kristin, and Abbey. She was the dear sister of the late Lawrence and Joyce Crahan.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Ruth lived next door to the man who would become her husband. She and Edward built a loving life together in Tappan that spanned more than six decades. After raising their three daughters, she returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant for several local businesses. Ruth delighted in hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations, and her eggplant parmigiana was legendary among those lucky enough to taste it.

She found simple pleasures in playing cards, watching game shows, and taking part in Jeopardy and bingo activities at her assisted living home. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, she remained engaged and spirited even through the challenges of her final months. Above all, her greatest joy was being “Nana G” to her seven grandchildren, for whom she provided endless care and affection. Her wonderful sense of humor and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
