Ruth Hoar

Ruth Hoar, 95, of Elmhurst Township, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Thomas Hoar, who died in 1991.

Born on February 26, 1931, in Cresco, Pennsylvania, Ruth was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Price) Stewart. A graduate of Barrett Township High School, class of 1949, she worked in banking until her retirement. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime and devoted member of St. Eulalia’s Church in Roaring Brook Township.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Callahan (Bernard) of Hamlin, Sharon Ruthkoski of Elmhurst Township, Jeffrey Orr (Carole) of Clarks Summit, Linda Kuniegel (Walter) of Elmhurst Township, and Gregory J. Orr (Lori) of Moscow; ten grandchildren, Brenna Callahan (Jon), Bill Ruthkoski (Samantha), Conor Orr (Alison), Michael Callahan (Heather), Justin Kuniegel (Kayla), Emily Linnane (Conor), Kelly Kuniegel, Kerri Orr (Matthew), Kaleigh Orr (Christyan), and Matthew Kuniegel; and eleven great-grandchildren, Parker, Dawkins, Evie, Emma, Rudy, AJ, Otis, Ainsley, Jamison, Raylan, and Lily. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Benkosky of Swiftwater, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Zukowski, and her brother, Bill Stewart. Her family will always cherish the grace, strength, and quiet devotion she brought to their lives.
