Ruth Ann Moreland, 94, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026.

Born in Barnesville, Ohio, to Herman and Sarah (McMurray) Moore, Ruth grew up as their youngest child on a small farm during the Great Depression and World War II. She developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, family, and her Christian faith. She graduated from Barnesville High School and, a few years later, married Charles "Charlie"Moreland. Their marriage of 63 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership until Charlie's passing in 2015.

Ruth devoted her life to her family, raising three children while supporting Charlie's career and also helping to care for both of her parents during the final days of their lives. Ruth was known for her warm smile, her homemade pies, cakes, and cookies, and the the many quilts she sewed for her family.

An avid gardener, Ruth tended to many crops of vegetables and fruit trees that filled her yard, transforming the bounty into a pantry full of canned fruits and vegetables and jams and jellies. Later in life, she enjoyed reading the Bible, sewing and knitting, and traveling with Charlie to visit with their children and grandchildren. Her Christian faith sustained her through life's challenges, and she remained active in The Church of Christ into her 90s.

Ruth is survived by her children: son Gregory (Patricia), daughter Sara, and son Joseph (Sandra); seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Charlie, her sisters Elsie Goodman and Kathleen Allen, and her brother Walter Brown.Ruth's preference is that a remembrance of her life will be conveyed through a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of her generous spirit to your church, your local hospice, or a favorite charity.

Ruth lived a long, full, and rewarding life marked by quiet strength, kindness, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
