Ruth A Hardesty

Coshocton, OH

Ruth Ann Hardesty, lovingly known as “Gigi,” 86, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born January 9, 1940, in Caldwell, Ohio, to the late Samuel C. Swain and Mildred (Grimes) Swain, Ruth devoted her life to caring for others. She worked for 32 years at Coshocton County Children Services before spending 13 years at Randles Medical Supplies. Known as an extremely hard worker, she took great pride in her home and in everything she did.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Christine Howell; her caring grandchildren, Amber (Bart) Barringer, Ashley (Josh) Coffman, and Arica (Zachary) Mills; and her six great-grandchildren, Brody and Brooks Barringer, Jace and Allie Coffman, and Chael and Gatlin Mills. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Carol Ann Kimble.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clark “Gordon” Hardesty, who passed away on August 28, 2025; her parents; her brothers, Samuel B. Swain and Max A. Swain; a niece; and several aunts and uncles.

Ruth’s greatest joys came from the simple, meaningful moments spent with her family. She cherished watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, gathering together, sharing stories, and enjoying days of shopping. Her deep love for those closest to her was evident in all she did, and the memories she created will be treasured by everyone who knew her.
