Born February 1, 1942, in DeSoto, MO, he was the son of the late Lester Walter Lewis and Effie Katherine (Villmere) Lewis. United in marriage, in DeSoto, MO on September 22, 1962 to the love of his life; Barbara Ann (Whitter) Lewis who proceeded him in death after 58 years of marriage.Mr. Lewis spent his entire life in DeSoto graduating from DeSoto High School where he made many lifelong friends. He was a retired carpenter with local #2214, an active member of the Knights of Columbus DeSoto #1185, life-long member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he attended grade school. An avid gardener who shared the fruits of his crops with many family members and friends. He enjoyed Boy Scouts, music, dancing; especially the jitterbug, and took great pride in spending time with his family who loved him dearly. He also loved the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers.He is survived by his children, Don (Dawn) Lewis of Antigo, WI; Denise (Shawn) McCarty of De Soto, MO; Charlene (Kevin) De Clue of Hillsboro, MO; and Katherine (Chris) Meyer of De Soto, MO; grandchildren, Amanda (Noah DeRousse) Bachmeyer, Josh (Stephanie) Lewis, Aaron (Alicia) Meyer, Tyler (Valeria) Lewis, Kirsten (Taylor) Hassell and Rachel McCarty; great grandchildren: Allana Bachmeyer, Logan Lewis Bachmeyer, Bennett Tolsma, Eleanor Meyer, Josiah Meyer, Otto Lewis and Ayliana Hassell and two more expected soon; his sister, Faye (the late Maurice) Pashia, Maryland Heights, MO and sister-in-Law: Dorothy Lewis, Highland, IL; brother-in-law: Jim Tidwell, Bonne Terre, MO and numerous other family and friends.In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by siblings, Norma (James) Marsden, Donald (Loraine) Lewis, Dolores (Archie) Richardson, Kenneth Lewis and Glenn Lewis.As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 4400 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63110.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
