Russell loved the outdoors and could always be found gardening, woodworking, or spending his time walking through the woods or taking adventurous road trips to the beach.Visitation will be Thursday March 19, 2026, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial will be at Millstone Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Lynn, Alabama.Russell is survived by his wife, Debra Johnson; son, Russell Leeman Johnson Jr.; daughter, Cheri Gail Johnson (Esteban) Echevarria; step-children, Jason (Debra) Robins, Jennifer (Jonathan) Harbin, Crystal (Trentt) Barton; brother, Terry (Felcia) Johnson; sisters, Patricia (Charlie) Hall and Dinah Bell Vinson; six nieces; two nephews; grandchildren, Alexander Echevarria, Breanna (Hunter) Bates, Amy Barton, Brooke Barton, Joseph Harbin, Jacob Harbin, Harley Harbin, Blair Nichole Harbin; and great grandchildren, Dalton Harbin and Ezlynn Harbin.He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Johnson and Gladys Bell Johnson (Elven) Dill; brothers, Steve and Michael; parents-in-law, Cecil and Mae Patterson; and brother-in-law, Kenneth PattersonMemories and condolences may be shared at nicholsfuneralhomes.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
