He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hanson and Alice Hanson (Muller); his brother Merlin Hanson; and his great grandchild Therese Joann Bauer. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Wachs; his children, Julann Bauer (Laurence) of South Bend, Daniel Hanson (Laura) of Stevensville, Michigan and Christine Feiler (Howard) of Chesterton, Indiana.; his grandchildren, Alexander Bauer (Alison), Joseph Bauer (Elizabeth), Daniel Hanson II, Lindsey Snyder (Seth), Lisa Dente, Andrew Feiler, Haley Bigbie (Bronson), Jacob Feiler and Rebecca Feiler; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Hanson of St. Joseph, Michigan..

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home (503 W 3rd St, Mishawaka, IN 46544). A Mass will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (225 S Mill St, Mishawaka, IN 46544). A burial will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN 46561).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 W. Fourth Street, Mishawaka, Indiana 46544.
