Russell Asbury, Sr.

Russell Asbury, Sr., 85, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at home on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born on April 3, 1940, in Rockwood, Illinois, to Roy and Mable Lorenz Asbury, Russell lived a life grounded in faith and hard work. A longtime member of the Inter-Continental Church of God in Tyler, Texas, he retired after many years as a dedicated truck driver.

Russell is survived by his children, Lisa Trammel of Fayetteville, Russell Asbury, Jr. of Chester, Steve Asbury of Fayetteville, and Lori Ohman of Fayetteville, along with his 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.

He will be remembered as a man who provided steadily for his family and remained connected to his faith throughout his life.
