Rufus Cousins ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.Rufus "Kreg" Cousins, 52, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 5, 2026.Kreg was the youngest child of Rufus Howard and Sarah Ann (Chandler) Cousins. He was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1974, in Beloit, Wisconsin. Kreg graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1992, where his larger-than-life presence was unforgettable, and his clever yet humorous stories warmed the hearts of all he encountered.Kreg worked at The Cantonese Chef in Beloit from a young man in high school up until adulthood and brought smiles to the many customers that frequented the restaurant. He later created a permanent professional path in road construction, receiving his certification in 2014. Kreg was a member of the Local 464 Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) and was employed by Payne and Dolan, a Walbec Company up until his passing.Kreg was known to have a personality that was magnetic, and he made every person that knew him feel warm, unconditionally accepted, and at ease with simply being who they truly are. Kreg had an ability to charm listeners with his unforgettable stories and cool and witty style of communication. For these reasons, he was more affectionately known as "Cool Cuz". Kreg brought such memorable joy and laughter to so many that no matter where he went, someone knew his name. Memories of Kreg "Cool Cuz" will continue to warm the hearts of those that loved him forever.Kreg leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, CynArah Cousins, Jamani Vance, BryAzjah Bolton, Deajah Peacock, Alicia Cassillas, and Brielle Bolton; sons, Xavier Weaver, and Timothy Kreg Cousins; grandchildren, Karter Rae Young, Mario Nixon III, and Davion Benton II; siblings, Lytonia (Robert) Floyd, and David Cousins; nephews, David Cousins, Denzel Barnes, Coryaun Cousins, and Jyrell Cousins; nieces, Chasidy (Floyd) Murray, Starkesha Barnes, Brittney (Cousins) Chapman, Olivia Floyd, Jasmine (Barnes) Parker, Canesha Barnes, Lacey Cousins, and Lexus Cousins; uncle, Willie Chandler; aunt, Inez Wilson; special cousins, Derrick Lambert, Tanjuir Hill, and Felecia Harrell; special friends, Henry Taylor, Chaz Garrett, Raymond Gosha, Allen White, Todd Sandridge, and Bianca Bolton; as well as many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tracey Cousins, and Timothy Cousins.A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1151 East Grand Avenue, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511.
