Rudy Passauer ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Mar. 16, 2026.Rudy Passauer, age 69, of Erie Pennsylvania, unexpectedly passed away on March 15th. Rudy was born on December 23rd, 1956 to Will and Emma Passauer in Erie Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gannon College and began his 41 year career at Erie Insurance. He was known for his unwavering faith with a strong adoration to the Blessed Mother and Padre Pio, and his unmatched devotion to his family.Rudy loved coaching his children's sports teams and taking his girls to tippity tappers. He was an active member of Cursillo and the Knights of Columbus. He was an athlete and a fan of history. He never bought a snowblower (in Erie, we know) because he loved shoveling. A lover of M&M's and walking his grandpuppies. He would drop everything to help the people he cared about.Upon retirement, Rudy spent his time doing the things he loved most. Spending time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. The world lost one of the best. The brightest of lights. The warmest of spirits. Unmatched in joy and devotion. He was the most cherished husband, dad, and papa. A truer friend cannot be found. And a better man will be hard to find. He will be deeply and forever missed. He married Mary Beth Chludzinski in 1984, and together they shared over 40 happy years together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Beth; his children, Lauren (Dylan) Grieshaber, Matthew (Mary Kate) Passauer, Emily Passauer, and Rachael Passauer. Grandchildren, Layla and Chase (and the puppies). His Passauer and Chludzinski siblings, as well as his mother and father in law, Don and Mary Chludzinski. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Emma Passauer, as well as nieces and a nephew.Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. on Wednesday 3/18/26 from 3 to 7 p.m. Friends are invited to a rosary on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th St. The funeral mass will be live streamed on Our Lady of Peace Church's Youtube channel. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rudy's name to Second Harvest Food Bank, Emmaus Soup Kitchen, Penn State Thon, or Camp Notre Dame.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
