Ruby Joyce “Jackie” Willis passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on October 1, 1936, in Wellman, Texas, to Samuel and Viola Day, Jackie grew up with a deep sense of purpose and determination. She graduated as valedictorian from Loop High School in Loop, Texas, and soon afterward moved to Seminole with her sister Veta, where the two worked for the telephone company.

She and her husband, Durward Willis, made their home in Plains, Texas, for more than thirty years, where they raised their three daughters. After Durward’s death in 1996, Jackie moved to San Angelo in 2000, where she remained active in her church and close to family. A devoted member of Southgate Church of Christ, she was remembered by those who knew her as a strong, kind, and loving Christian woman whose faith guided her throughout her life.

Jackie is survived by her daughters Dana Blackwood and husband Clay of Lubbock, and Elaine Bryant of San Angelo; grandchildren Jeremy Blackwood and wife Rebekah of Forney, Lindsey Blackwood of Dallas, and Tarren Huff and partner Michael Book of Bulverde; and six great-grandchildren, Aaron Blackwood, Evelynn Blackwood, and Mattylin Chaput of Forney, and Ashton Huff, Jaxson Huff, and Lexson Huff of Bulverde. She is also survived by her sisters Vesta Smith of Cisco and Faye Beasley of Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her husband Durward Denver Willis, her daughter Karon Willis, her grandson Keenan Hancock, her parents Samuel and Viola Day, her brothers Elvin Day and Foy Day, and her sisters Etta Smith, Veta Cozart, Kay Proctor, Ethline Day, and Theda Lee Day.
