Ruben "Hugo" Gonzales

Ruben "Hugo" Gonzales, 65 of Lompoc passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026 surrounded by family. Towards the end of his life he fought a short battle against cancer.

Ruben was born on April 1, 1960 to Eleanor Cruz Magallon of Lompoc. He was a Lompoc born native. In his youth he attended El Camino Elementary, Lompoc Junior High, and was a 1978 graduate of Lompoc High School.

Ruben joined the Marine Core in 1980. After the military Ruben worked at the chevron oil refinery. He was a skilled laborer for numerous companies throughout his life.

Outside of work Ruben enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and going to bingo. Most of all spending time with family and making memories with his grandbabies.

Ruben is survived by his children Desirae, Ruben Jr. and Raean Gonzales. Grandchildren Aiden, Alayna, and JJ. And brothers Tony (Sue) Vickery, Larry Vickery, Andy (Delia) Magallon, and Vincent (Trisha) Magallon. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, and neices and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his Grandparents Salvador and Esther Cruz, and Mother Eleanor Cruz Magallon. A graveside service will be held, at 2:00 pm on April 3, 2026 at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Reception to follow.
