Roy Thomas Johnson

Roy Thomas Johnson, age 86 of Dunlap, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at NHC Sequatchie.

Born on June 4, 1939, Roy was one of fourteen children born to Gaither Henson and Ester Amelia Lewis Johnson. He grew up working diligently on the family farm and graduated from Sequatchie County High School. He then served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1964. In addition to farm work, he was employed as a truck driver, worked at Dupont, and at an antique store. In 1984, he was elected to the Road Commission of Sequatchie County, a position he held with dedication until his retirement in 2006. A longtime member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church, Roy cherished his family and took great joy in their gatherings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Radis, Willis, Buford, Bobbie, Carroll, and Ernest, and his sisters Doris Johnson Clements and Alene Johnson Gray.

Roy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Audrea “Dean” Sprouse Johnson; his siblings Clyde Johnson, Ray Johnson, Helen (Henry) Broom, Lois (Roy) Webb, and Alice Greer; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
