Passed March 10, 2026
Kirkwood, NY
Roy G. Knickerbocker of Kirkwood, New York, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 61. A man of strong principles and quiet strength, Roy lived a life rooted in hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and a steadfast determination to do things the right way. Knowledgeable and dependable, he was the person others turned to for advice, a helping hand, or steady support. He never hesitated to roll up his sleeves, and when he offered his opinion on how something should be done, it usually proved to be exactly right.
Roy worked for 15 years at 88-B.C. Building Supplies in Nineveh, New York, where his strong work ethic earned the lasting respect of his colleagues. On weekends, he often joined his youngest son, Jeremy, in garage door projects, turning side jobs into meaningful time together. Away from work, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Camping with family and friends brought him deep contentment, especially with his beloved dogs, Smoky and Tanner, by his side. He enjoyed driving his buggy, tinkering in his garage with music playing, and never missing a NASCAR race. Yet above all, Roy considered his family his proudest achievement and cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Michele Knickerbocker; his daughter, Angela (Steven) Bevis; his sons, Bill and Jeremy Knickerbocker; nine grandchildren, Megan and Mackenzie Scott, Levi and Nevaeh Bevis, Kruze, Caleb, Isabella, and Connor Knickerbocker, and Toby Root; his brothers, Billy, Leon, and Mark Knickerbocker; his sister, Amie Reilly; and his stepmother, Donna Knickerbocker.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Darla Knickerbocker; his twin grandchildren, Ayden and McKenna Knickerbocker; and his sister, Cathy Knickerbocker. Though he is no longer beside them, Roy remains woven into everything his family does and everything they are, forever held in their hearts.
