Roy Ellis Bass Sr.

Roy Ellis Bass Sr. was born on September 15, 1930, to Jessie and Minnie Bass. He passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by his family.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, showing the same dedication and courage that marked his entire life. On October 15, 1954, he married Gladys Ferrell, and together they shared a loving marriage of 66 years until her passing in 2020.

Ellis enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at Owens-Illinois, later known as Packaging Company of America, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. He is remembered as a man of strength, love, and quiet reliability by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Roy Bass of Madison, Florida, and Andy Bass and his wife Heather of Spring Hill, Florida; his grandchildren, Ryan Bass of Madison, Melissa Bass and Travis Pope of Tallahassee, Ross Bass of Tallahassee, Jessica Bass of Spring Hill, and Joshua Bass of Trinity, Florida; and his great-grandchild, Brayden Lee Pope. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Bass and Jerry Bass and his wife Christine.
