April 12, 1927— March 11, 2026
Florence, KY
Roy Earl Brickey passed peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2026. A longtime resident of Florence, Kentucky, he was beloved by all who knew him.
Born in the mountains of Coeburn, Virginia, Roy lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. He honorably served his country in both the Navy and the Army, earning the Purple Heart during wartime. After his military service, he moved to Kentucky, where he met and married his loving wife, Anna. Together they raised their two daughters, Karen and Sandy.
Roy was a gifted tinkerer and master of many trades, always ready to fix a neighbor’s lawn mower or lend a helping hand. In his spare time he crafted airplanes from old pop cans to sell at the local flea market, strummed his guitar and sang, and entertained those around him with his quick wit and boisterous personality. He had a deep love for life that touched everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Karen and Sandy, and Sandy’s husband Barry. Roy is survived by his three grandchildren, Jason, Jesse, and Alexis, and seven great-grandchildren, Bryauna, Savannah, Zachary, Donovan, Jocelyn, Keira, and Payton.
