He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard "Jack" Avery and Elna Avery; and his brother William "Bill" Avery. He is survived by: his wife Cindy; his children, Shelly of DeBerry, Stacy Avery of DeBerry, Bill of DeBerry and Erin Avery of DeBerry; his grandchildren, Annabelle, Elliott Avery, Whitney Harrison, Alex Thompson and Tori Waits; his great grandchildren, Allison, Corbin and Elizabeth; and his siblings, Joe (Carolyn Avery), Glenn (Anna Avery), Mary and Author Owens of Longview.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Downs Funeral Home (4608 Elysian Fields Rd, Marshall, TX 75672).
