Rowland “Fred” Frederick Jonas Jr., 90, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on July 24, 1935, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Rowland and Edell Jonas, Fred lived a life marked by music, service, and a deep love for people.
He played the clarinet for more than 72 years, beginning with his proud service in the United States Air Force Band. Later, he shared his talent for 17 years with the Hot Springs Concert Band. Fred loved to dance, and it was on the dance floor that he met the love of his life, Cappy. He also enjoyed golfing, telling jokes, and sharing a glass of scotch with friends. A devoted member of Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, he was also a charter member of the Little Rock Bop Club.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Edell Jonas, and his siblings, Robert, JB Madison, Margaret, Juanita, and Mary Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cappy; his children, Treva Young, Teresa Quinn, and Jeffery “Buddy” Young; six grandchildren; his niece Mary and her husband Richard Smith; and many other extended family members and friends.
