Rosina "Rose" Garuti

Rosina "Rose" Garuti

September 16, 1932 March 12, 2026

Kensington, CT

Rosina (Rose) Daddabbo Garuti, 93, of Kensington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born on September 16, 1932, in New Britain, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Lucia (Spinelli) Daddabbo and Vito Daddabbo. One of seven children, Rose grew up cherishing the bonds of family, a value that remained central to her life.

After graduating from New Britain High School in 1950, Rose began her career at Western Union and later worked in banking until her retirement in 1990. She was a hardworking woman of strong and independent spirit, known as a loyal wife, loving mother, caring friend, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Rose had a quick wit, a ready song, and a generous heart. She loved to bake, especially her Italian cookies, homemade cakes, and pies. Her sense of adventure took her across the United States and Europe, whether on relaxed cruises or scenic road trips, always with a camera in hand to capture family moments. An avid card player, she also enjoyed the casino and bingo. She was an active member of the Sons of Italy, the Berlin Senior Center, the local AARP, and St. Paul’s Church in Berlin.

Rose shared 57 years of marriage with her late husband, Richard Garuti, Sr., whom she met in high school. Together they enjoyed stock-car racing, attending concerts, cooking for family and friends, and exploring new places while listening to their favorite music on the road. One of her favorite songs, “On the Road Again,” perfectly reflected the joyful, adventurous life they built together.

She is survived by her children, Susan Sayers and her husband John J. Sayers of Plainville, Connecticut, and Richard Garuti, Jr. and his wife Marjorie Garuti of Plantsville, Connecticut; five grandchildren, Katie Gagliardi and her significant other Jason Pelletier of Bristol, Connecticut, Sarah Griffin and her husband Richard Griffin III, currently serving in the military in Japan, Karen Garuti of Cheshire, Connecticut, John Sayers and his fiancée Mariorla Rondon Perez of Kissimmee, Florida, and Richard Garuti III and his wife Kristy Garuti of Southington, Connecticut; and ten great-grandchildren, Lilly Griffin, Remi Parafati, Richard Griffin IV, Joseph Pennoyer, Sophia Griffin, Kiara Pennoyer, Samuel Griffin, September Rose Garuti, Richard Garuti IV, and Hudson Griffin. She is also survived by her sister, Stella Lorah of Ledyard, Connecticut. Rose was predeceased by her parents and five siblings, Mary Snetro, Lillian Theriault, John Daddabbo, Tony Daddabbo, and Ella Gonsalves.
